ABOUT THERAPY
Psychotherapy provides a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and supportive space where we can collaboratively explore difficult feelings and deepen our understanding of ourselves and our patterns of behaviour. Understanding our past and how it has shaped us allows us to recognise when our familiar ways of being may no longer be in our best interests. The self-awareness and self-compassion that result from this journey can be liberating and empowering.
Trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, concerns about compulsive behaviours, a lack of deep connection with others, or simply a general sense that life is not being lived to its full potential, represent just some of the experiences that can lead us to try therapy.

Trauma can be experienced on many levels and can often remain unacknowledged and unprocessed for years. It can result from abuse - emotional/psychological, physical, sexual or societal. Any individual or group that has been persecuted, oppressed or marginalised may be living with the impact of societal or socio-cultural trauma.

The wound is the place where the light enters you.

HARRIET FLETCHER
I am an integrative psychotherapist offering one-to-one open-ended therapy to adults (18+). Integrative psychotherapy means I studied a wide range of modalities including: humanistic, relational, psychodynamic, person-centred, body psychotherapy - amongst others. I have also trained in the use of attachment-focused EMDR and bilateral stimulation to support recovery from trauma (I can give more information about this - if it sounds of interest). What I hope is to offer a tailored approach to meet each individual's unique needs and issues.

I am committed to making my practice anti-oppressive and to undertaking regular continued professional development.
Recent trainings completed include:
Working with Gender, Sex and Relationship Diversity (Pink Therapy)
Attachment-focussed EMDR (Laurel Parnell Institute)
Trauma-informed therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy
Working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse
Working with boarding school syndrome
Working with eating disorders
Working with self-harm
Several courses and workshops on decolonising therapy and challenging white-bodied supremacy

I am accredited by UKCP, having completed an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy with the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling and Middlesex University. I have volunteered in low-cost counselling services and for Mind.
I am in regular supervision with a UKCP-accredited supervisor and I adhere to the UKCP code of ethics - which can be accessed here.

I work from a room in North Brighton (BN1 5EE). There is free parking outside and several bus stops that are less than 5 minutes' walk away. I can also work online - using the platform Zoom which can be downloaded to laptop, tablet or smart-phone.

My fees are £60 per session (sessions last for 50 minutes). I have some spaces for lower fees if circumstances are challenging and we can discuss this when we meet.

Please send me an email if you would like to make an appointment for an initial conversation.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
